Dear Christine,
I want to surprise my wife with a massage gift certificate but she has never had a massage before. How do I know if she will like massage?
Wondering in Two Rivers
Dear Wondering,
The simplest way would be to bring it up in conversation and see how she reacts.
We see a lot of people who get their very first massage from us.
There was a time when Sandi and I were new to massage, so we know what your wife is going through. We are very good at explaining exactly what will happen during a session. We also cover undressing, how to lay on the table, and what to expect as the session progresses. Most of our first time clients happily come back again and again.
A lot of our first time clients are shy about being undressed in front of another person. No one has the perfect body, and getting a massage is not a beauty contest. We are here to make you feel better. We never judge, poke fun, or recommend someone should lose a few pounds.
If a person truly does not want to use a certificate they already have, they have two choices. They can use the cash value of the certificate to purchase retail in our clinic or they can give it to someone who wants to use it.
Dear Christine,
How long of a session do I need?
Kathy in Manitowoc
The length of a session can be determined by a few things. Many new clients decide to start with a 30 or 60 minute session since they don't know what to expect.
A typical 30 minute session usually is limited to problem areas, or is limited to a specific area, like the upper body.
A 60 minute session can focus on one or two areas if you are having issues or you can use it for a full body session.
A typcial 90 minute session is ample time for a full body session with time to focus on a few trouble spots if needed. Many of our clients enjoy our 90 minute sessions since an hour massage goes by very quickly.
No matter which session length you decide to go with, your practitioner will let you know what to expect from your session.
